How to restore luster to a gemstone or diamond?

What is the best home remedy to restore luster to a gem or a diamond or cubic zirconium.

Cubic zirconia is man made and often loses its shine with time and can not be restored. You can have stones professioanlly real clean with little or no cost. I would recommend this particular gemstone as some are sensitive and porous and can alter its color permanately or the clarity with heat and chemicals.

I wonder how a person's finger SHLD use the gem of Venus, ie the diamond? What SHLD much they weighed? N SHLD either embedded in a silver or platinum ring?
